A consonant is a sound made with your mouth fairly closed. These are considered true diphthongs in Spanish —two vowels in one syllable—, as in a·gua or vien·to. • a, o, and e are called "strong" (fuertes o abiertas). Two strong vowels are pronounced as two syllables: po·e·ma has three syllables, ca·os has two. These are not true diphthongs, since the vowels belong in different syllables. When consonants are put in groups, they can change the vocal quality of the consonant that follows. A great example is the past simple form of regular verbs. You can recognize these verbs because they end in "ed." However, the consonant sound of this ending can change from voiced to voiceless, depending on the consonant or vowel that precedes it.Technically, the terms vowel and consonant (from Latin vocalis, meaning "vocal," and Latin consonare, "to sound together") refer to particular speech sounds: a vowel is one made with your mouth open and your tongue in the middle of your mouth not touching your teeth, lips, etc. (in other words, there's minimal manipulation of air flow while expelling a vowel sound); a consonant, on the otherJavaScript Program to Check Vowel or Consonant - In this article, you will learn and get code in JavaScript to check whether a character entered by user is a vowel or consonant. What is the difference between a vowel and a consonant?

To avoid giving an intense linguistic definition, I will attempt to keep things very easy and give a simple clarification in regards to the difference between a vowel and a consonant.

What is a vowel?

A vowel sound is pronounced with the mouth open and allows the air to waft freely thru it from the lungs.

When the doctor tells you to open your mouth and say Aaah… You can open your mouth wider, transfer your tongue within the mouth (with out touching some other a part of your mouth) and move your jaw up and down and it'll produce the A legitimate. You have no longer limited the motion of air out of your lungs through your mouth so this can be a vowel.

The following letters constitute a vowel sound: A E I O U

What is a consonant?

A consonant sound is pronounced with some form of constriction of the waft of air that involves either the lips or the tongue.

For instance with the consonant P. Just prior to you pronounce the letter P, understand how your lips are pressed together preventing the air from coming out of your mouth. When you temporarily release your lips, it produces the P sound. This constriction means you might be generating a consonant sound.

A consonant requires the mouth and tongue to "form" the sound.

The following letters represent a consonant sound: B C D F G H J K L M N P Q R S T V W X Y Z

Try the next

Try to make a vowel sound (comparable to an A) with out shifting your mouth (touching your lips/tongue) … sure, you'll be able to do it.Try to make a consonant sound (comparable to an F) without shifting your mouth (touching your lips/tongue) … no, you can't do it.

That is the adaptation.
